Quick hikes in banff national park
Johnston Canyon
Elevation Gain: 434ft
A popular trail for a good reason! This trail changes up the usual mountain scenery found in Banff with a path that hugs a scenic canyon. There are multiple waterfalls and even a section where you can climb through a small tunnel to get up close and personal with one of the falls!
Lake Louise Lakeshore Trail
Elevation Gain: 0ft
This is a wonderful flat trail that follows the perimeter of the lake and helps you escape the crowds at Lake Louise. The trail does not circle the entire lake, so you must hike out and back.
Moraine Lake Rockpile Trail
Elevation Gain: 38ft
This trail is extremely short and considered an easy hike, which unfortunately, means it comes with larger crowds. This hike is a MUST DO! The views of Moraine Lake are exceptional.
Peyto Lake
Elevation Gain: 144ft
The drive to Peyto Lake is just over an hour from downtown Banff. The hike to the viewpoint is nice and peaceful as you make your way through evergreen trees on the windy forest path. This hike is popular, but the viewing platform is fairly large, so the crowds feel more manageable.
